Even though Easter for humans is a joyous excuse for indulging in way too much chocolate and baked goods, it’s pretty obvious that our Easter treats are not exactly pet friendly.

Easter Treats for Dogs

So this year, I’ve decided to try my hand at making homemade Easter treats for my fur babies curtesy of Cooking With Janica to make Easter fun for everyone in the house.

Step 1: Make Sure Your Fur-Babies Like the Ingredients for the Easter Treats

So first things first, I chose this specific recipe because if there is anything that gets Millie off the couch, it’s yogurt. Mookie is a classic dachshund who will eat anything so it really doesn’t matter for him.

To keep their small systems in check, I prefer to keep what they eat simple and straightforward. Also I’m always on the hunt for a bargain and this recipe only requires 3 ingredients.

If you’re unsure if your pooch will  like any of the three ingredients, you can always do a small taste test first. I know my golden retriever dogphew (dog-nephew) doesn’t love peanut butter but only because of the texture. He gobbled these up like no tomorrow just because it was mixed together with other things.

Also make sure you’ve checked your yogurt and peanut butter before using them. Some brands contain xylitol which is extremely toxic to dogs and cats. You can grab my Free Toxic Household Items List if you’re worried about sharing dangerous ingredients with your pet.

Step 2: Making Your Easter Treats

Besides being a bargain hunter, I’m also a fan of being efficiently lazy…

Throw all your ingredients in a food processor or toss them in a bowl and get mixing.

Then pour the ingredients in whatever mold you’d like. For these Easter Treats I have these silicone molds I snagged off amazon.

You could also consider using:
  • Ice cube trays
  • Tupperware containers
  • Baking tin (lined with parchment paper)

Throw those tasty snacks in the freezer for 2 hours and voila!

Hoppy Easter everyone!
